Gearbox of Happiness
Why: This is an amazing teaching tool, not to mention hilarious. People have spent hours cranking this gearbox convinced they are making a difference. They are, but on a very small scale.
How:
Laser cut the gears and the stand with these plans.
Cut 18 ⅝ diameter dowel rods to 1 inch.
Assemble the gearbox (it's a tight fit you will need a hammer)
Use 4 screws to hold the outer walls tight (it has a tendency to accordion out)
What: A Gearbox that will take 149 million turns of the first gear to reveal what the last gear says. “The Secret of Happiness is _____” Its made of ¼ mahogany. Measuring about 1 foot by 1 foot by 6 inches.
