Church Doors
I thought it would be a fun challenge to build some really nice doors. Churches have really nice doors so I built them for free just to see if I could.
Mahogany Church Etched Doors
Why: For the love of building beautiful doors.
How:
Cut glass to fit.
Etch the glass using the etching process (link).
Buy 2 36x84 slabs and cut out the window holes.
Cut out holes for hardware to lock door at bottom and top.
Hang both doors as is.
Cut out of ¾ mahogany (any nice wood) The shapes of the outside of the door.
Attach the front side of the doors.
Install the glass.
Install the inside of the doors’ molding.
Sand Sand Sand.
Install the door knobs and hardware. (need to extend the hardware because the door is so thick)
Remove hardware again.
Stain the doors. (careful around the glass)
Seal the doors.
Reinstall the hardware.
